Smooth brome is a brome that spreads by rhizomes. This is the grass that most retains its nutritional value after heading. Slow to establish, it prefers well-drained soils. Ideal for dry hay and silage. Brome is a long-lasting grass and requires nitrogen fertilization for best yields! Do little or no heading after the first cut. Easily recognized by a W in the curvature of the leaf.
